On June 3, 2014, the University of Salerno, in Salerno, Italy, held a modest ceremony to honor the new President of WSEAS, Professor of the University of Sofia as well as the Hellenic Naval Academy, Prof. Nikos Mastorakis for his long-standing contribution to Science and Scientific Research. The Italian Professor of the University of Salerno, Prof. Joseph Quartieri, presented the life and work of Prof. Nikos Mastorakis, pointing out that the University of Salerno was founded by Greeks circa the 14th century, before the fall of Constantinopole. Prof. Nikos Mastorakis was invited to spend a year as visiting Professor at the University of Salerno, an invitation which the Professor gladly accepted.
