Call for Research Collaborators - HORIZON 2020 Framework Programme
The World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society (WSEAS) is pleased to announce an open call for research collaborators to participate in project proposals under the HORIZON 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. As we continue our commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and fostering international collaboration, we invite researchers, institutions, and organizations to join us in developing competitive proposals that address the pressing challenges facing society today.
HORIZON 2020 represents an unprecedented opportunity to secure funding for innovative research across a wide spectrum of disciplines, from fundamental science to market-driven technological development. The World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society seeks to bring together multidisciplinary teams capable of delivering excellence in research while contributing to Europe's growth, competitiveness, and ability to tackle major societal challenges. We are particularly interested in collaborations that span multiple countries and sectors, combining academic rigor with industrial applicability and real-world impact.
We welcome expressions of interest from universities, research centers, small and medium enterprises, large corporations, and civil society organizations across all eligible countries. Priority areas include but are not limited to sustainable energy solutions, advanced materials and manufacturing, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, health and biotechnology, climate action and environmental sustainability, secure societies, and smart cities and communities. However, we remain open to innovative proposals across all thematic areas supported by HORIZON 2020, recognizing that breakthrough research often emerges at the intersection of traditional disciplines.
Potential collaborators should possess demonstrated expertise in their respective fields, a track record of successful research outcomes, and the capacity to contribute meaningfully to large-scale collaborative projects. We value partners who bring complementary skills, resources, and perspectives to the consortium, whether through scientific excellence, technological innovation, project management capabilities, or pathways to implementation and societal impact. Previous experience with European Framework Programmes is advantageous but not mandatory, as the World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society is committed to supporting both experienced and emerging research groups.
The collaboration framework we envision is built on principles of mutual respect, shared responsibility, and transparent communication. Partners will work together to identify compelling research questions, develop robust methodologies, establish clear work packages and deliverables, and create sustainable mechanisms for knowledge transfer and exploitation of results. The WSEAS will provide coordination support, facilitate networking among potential consortium members, and leverage its extensive international network to strengthen proposals through strategic partnerships.
Interested parties are invited to submit a brief expression of interest outlining their organization's profile, areas of expertise, available infrastructure and resources, previous relevant experience, and specific contributions they could make to HORIZON 2020 projects. We encourage applicants to indicate their preferred thematic areas and any existing partnerships or networks that could enhance consortium building. Following an initial review, promising candidates will be invited to participate in consortium-building workshops where we will collaboratively develop full project proposals for submission to the European Commission.
The deadline for expressions of interest is specified on our website, with consortium-building activities commencing shortly thereafter to ensure timely submission before upcoming HORIZON 2020 calls. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, expand your collaborative network, secure significant funding, and make lasting contributions to science and society. We look forward to working with ambitious, creative, and committed partners who share our vision of research excellence and innovation for the common good.
