Introducing the New Generation of Drug Design and Targeting Methods; Study on Swine Influenza Virus (SIV)

Abstract: Acidification of internal pH of influenza a virus is critical for its replication. The responsible protein of this phenomenon is a membrane protein named M2 which is a protein channel. Three well known proteins are expressed and exposed in virus surface, Haemagglutinin, neuraminidase, and M2. Haemagglutinin do its responsibility in order to make adhesion of virus to epithelial cells in respiratory tract to make virus a more penetration inside the cells. Salic acid is known as a key carbohydrate in such phenomena. The linkage of haemagglutinin and Salic acid breaks with neuraminidase, a protein that facilitates release of Virions. All tree mentioned proteins have critical roles in viral function, therefore they are suitable to study as targets of drug design to make new generation of drugs. There are some antiviral drugs such as Adamantans (against M2), Zanamivir and Oseltamivir (against Neuramidinase). Although these drugs are effective on H1N1 virus, but there are several strains which resist. The new method of drug design and targeting strategy planning based on critical targets and drug design study and synthesis based on molecular structure and physicochemical properties of proteins are the main purposes of this lecture. Theoretical methods in combination to practical synthesis and examinations to make a complex compound with higher efficiency will be discussed.
Brief Biography of the Speaker: Babak Khalili Hadad graduated from Shiraz University of Sciences, Shiraz-Iran in 1996, received the Master Degree in Clinical and Applied Biochemistry from the Kerman University of Medical Sciences, Kerman-Iran in 1999 where he selected as the Head of Pharmaceutical Research center and Academic member. He received Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Azad University, Science and research Branch. He is active as a full university professor. He served as the research head in related industries. He does his duty as an editorial member of at least 5 ISI journals and 11 national ones. Until now he received a lot of national and international awards in invention of new techniques and analytical key points. There are several conferences that he has the responsibility of Chairman and/or the member of Chair board. Up to now there are several conferences those invite him as plenary speaker and lecturer in workshops. He was elected as the young researcher, the elected scientist of asia, elected professor inside and outside of Iran. In recent years he started to improve the industrial technology related to hi Tec technology in manufactories.
