Notice: As of 2014 and for the forthcoming years, the publication frequency/periodicity of WSEAS Journals is adapted to the 'continuously updated' model. What this means is that instead of being separated into issues, new papers will be added on a continuous basis, allowing a more regular flow and shorter publication times. The papers will appear in reverse order, therefore the most recent one will be on top.

ABSTRACT: The experimental investigation of the influence of the distributed blowing of heavy gas (sulfur hexafluoride, SF6) into the wall layer of a supersonic boundary layer on a flat plate (at free stream Mach number M=2) on the laminar-turbulent transition have been performed. It is shown experimentally for the first time that in case of such blowing there is the boundary layer stabilization, and the laminar-turbulent transition is removed downstream from the model leading edge.
