Mrs. Rena Politi, my secretariat told me that several quite reliable sites (university URL addresses) have posted this email from IEEE. With little google research you can see it posted in several places of the blogsphere.

TO: CPS Clients FROM: Evan Butterfield, Director of Products and Services RE: Fraudulent Machine-Generated Paper Submissions (CONFIDENTIAL) DATE: 16 January 2009

The IEEE Computer Society (CS) has evidence that multiple (IEEE) conferences are receiving machine-generated papers. In two cases, conferences have actually accepted an obviously fraudulent submission. This is a serious issue that threatens the credibility of your conference, the quality of the digital library, and the reputation of both the IEEE and CS. It requires your immediate attention. Please take this opportunity to ensure that your peer review processes are being followed, and adapt to any new requirements that may be communicated by the IEEE or the Computer Society. No conference published by CPS should rely on an abstract review. It is very important that you review carefully the full text of all papers submitted to your conference. If you have already accepted papers, your program committee should review the full text again. While CPS staff will be conducting random spot-checks of conference papers in the publishing queue, we are relying on you to authenticate the content of your proceedings. Any papers that were not actually presented at your conference need to be brought to our attention, and should receive close review. In known cases, the machine-generated origin is obvious from a reading of the first few paragraphs of the paper; the abstracts are human-generated and do not indicate the quality of the paper itself. In the past, papers have been submitted by “Herbert Schlangemann,” but be mindful that the perpetrator of this fraud will change the approach over time. In the event you discover any evidence of questionable content or behavior, please communicate that to us immediately along with an action plan for addressing the problem. Thank you for your help in maintaining the quality of our products.

June 16, 2011

Dear Colleagues,

Today, June 16, 2011, I
received 17 copies of the following SPAM email today from IEEE Circuits and Systems. IEEE Conference Organizers and other IEEE Officers (like Gasacrh and Fotrnow that organize some IEEE Conference on Computational Complexity blamed the WSEAS for Spam some years ago. Unfortunately, they had found SPAM and negative comments on the blogs only for the ... WSEAS. For their beloved .... IEEE, they have not found anything on the blogs. Maybe, they have never heard the SCIgen papers that proved how vulnerable were the IEEE conferences (They have never heard anything about: "IEEE Nagib Callaos", google it and many others)

Doesn't IEEE Spam the academic community everyday?
Hasn't IEEE accept several SCIgen papers in the thousand conferences that use the name of IEEE? I address the same question to some other "academicians" that organize IEEE conferences sending us many unsolicited emails everyday advertising their fake conferences (some of them are really bogus) and then they protest against us for Spam.
It is also interesting but the fake conferences sent also SPAM to my daughter Zenia Mastorakis (13 years old) - not having any relation with science at the moment.
So, many conference organisers of other societies have put unacceptable comments against WSEAS in some blogs. It is better for them to see the following IEEE Mesh:

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (JETCAS)

We are honored to welcome readers and authors to the inaugural issue of the IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (JETCAS for short), which is sponsored by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CAS-S.)

The journal, which is freely accessible on-line to all CAS-S members, aims to build a platform for the broad and timely dissemination of key innovative results and findings in rapidly-growing and/or emerging topic areas within the scope of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. Such potentially interdisciplinary emerging topics will be selected as long as, first, they are clearly situated at the forefront of current scientific and technological developments and, second, they are expected to grow over time in scientific and professional importance and, therefore, in the number of active practitioners. From this point of view, JETCAS is expected to create new communities interested in the long-term development of the most promising subjects presented in the journal. The editorial strategy followed by JETCAS will be the publication of Special Issues on the selected topics. These issues will include research contributions from leading experts and presentations geared towards a wide audience of scientists and practitioners in the form of overview and tutorial-style articles and multidisciplinary research papers.

Some author t.dafieri told us that some SCIgen papers have been accepted in an IEEE Conference again

I do not know who is T. DAFIERI but he proposed me to follow this link
http://crappyconferences.blogspot.com/

Unlike IEEE that was victim of SCIgen fake papers many times (google it), we are really proud that the WSEAS conferences and books have nothing to do with these strange stories because WSEAS has a strong review mechanism and we have never published fake papers.  Unlike IEEE , WSEAS is very careful in our selection of Conference Chairmen, Reviewers, and organizers.

Prof. Aida Bulucea (University of Craiova) received this email and forwarded it to us. Everybody can made his own conclusions....  The discussion among Prof. Aida Bulucea and Joanna Carpender is on IEEE Spam and on Fake Conferences. I think that IEEE must affiliate a better control before nominating some body as organizer or chairman in some of its conferences....

I got an emal (see below email from bowlleravner@gmail.com) about IEEE
Fake Conferences. I agree with them. How can I discriminate a honest
conference from a Fake IEEE Conference? Many Organizers pay money
receive the Name and the Logotype of IEEE and then they start bombing
us with much Spam. Spam, Spam and Spam from IEEE Sponsored or
Co-Sponsored conferences. Here are also some sites talking about this
unacceptable situation of the IEEE bogus events

We received a Comment today

We have just received a Comment from some Bessar!
He agrees that many
IEEE conferences are fake. So, how can we discriminate a honest
conferences from fake ones, especially if the majority of IEEE
conferences are (in the opinion of Bessar) fake?
See the following comment and try to discover via Google FAKE IEEE
Conferences..................
The IEEE has hundreds of Fake Conferences. I think that it is better
to publish to societies like IASTED, IMACS than the IEEE. The IEEE
conferences are not serious especially if the organizers are guys like
Petre Dini or Nagib Callaos. So, if these idiots Petre Dini, Nagib
Callaos send you again CALL FOR PAPERS, even if they include the
logotype and the word IEEE, send an email to every body that this is a
call for a bogus (fake) conference. This is the problem with IEEE.
Some IEEE conferences are honest, but the majority are fake. Sorry,
but this is my opinion
http://iaria-highsci.blogspot.com/2010/09/fake-ieee-conferences.html

Fake IEEE Conferences. The absolute junk IEEE conference. Send your
SCIgen Papers and you will receive a letter of acceptance after 1
week. It is the extreme commercial business of IEEE.

NEW SPAM from SPRINGER VERLAG. While in all the WSEAS emails, the WSEAS has instructions of how to unsubscribe, Springer Verlag consider it as non-necessary. It is so obvious that sometimes I must underline it to my friends in our WSEAS conferences. WSEAS has never sent an invitation without instructions of unsubscription.

SPAM from SPRINGER VERLAG and SPAM from IEEE.

I use to receive Spam from Springer Verlag. The following aggressive spam from Springer Verlag is very annoying. I do not work in the area of Natural Hazards. I do not have any relation with them. I do not work for Springer. I do work only for WSEAS.
Moreover, they do not have instructions for unsubscription.

On the other hand my son Manolis Mastorakis, 9 years' old, received the following spam from IEEE. My son told me: "why do I received SPAM from IEEE, while my father does work for WSEAS. My father is a WSEAS Officer and I use to be bombed by IEEE Spam. This is ridiculous!"
