Abstract: The enhancement of buildings’ energy performance
puts emphasis on meeting the comfort requirements indoors, as the acceptable
environments have to be provided from less energy.
The comfort of the occupant is determined by the heat exchange between his body
and his indoor environment. The heat exchange mainly depends on the temperature
of the surrounding surfaces and the air temperature as well as on the velocity
of the air movement. The temperature, the velocity distribution and the heat
exchange between the human body and its’ surroundings can be described by
analytic and numeric models. The steps of the modelling are the following:
-
creating a geometric model,
-
definition of the equations and differential equations that can
be applied to the phenomenon; setting of the initial and boundary conditions,
-
elaboration of the mathematic or numeric model,
-
modelling of the temperature and the velocity distribution in the
space, and of the heat exchange between the occupant and his environment for the
set conditions.
The paper discusses and evaluates mathematic and numeric modelling examples.
