The Key Technology of Offshore Wind Energy Development and Practice in China

Abstract: Since Denmark built up the first offshore wind farm in the world in 1991, the time for technical application of offshore wind energy generation and wind farm development is of 15 years so far. Offshore wind energy is of characteristics that are superior to the onshore wind energy, for instance, heavy wind speed, little wind cuts, diminishes and wind turbulence intensity, unrestricted seat for wind turbine, and more unit capacity, meanwhile, full capacity generating electricity time is superior to onshore wind energy. So the offshore wind energy is of tremendous development in the world. By the end of 2006, the global offshore wind powered electricity adds up to installation 800,000kW, and has already accounted for 1.5% of the total installed capacity of global wind powered electricity. So, it is urgent to study the key technology involved with offshore wind energy and wind farm.

The paper reviews characteristics and developing state of global offshore wind farm briefly, and the key technology related with offshore wind farm. It is analyzed that the abroad offshore wind farm construct and implement cases, and rational distribution assess, offshore wind farm electric transmission technology, system insert with operating, wind farm manufacturing execution system (MES) and wind turbine base, etc, are studied to put forward corresponding implementation and solution. Combining the resource characteristic of offshore wind energy in China, the paper introduces China, especially Shanghai City to launch the offshore wind farm technological development and application demonstration. The practice indicates that through promoting the research of offshore wind farm key technology, setting up and developing relevant technological foundations of utilizing scale resource of offshore wind energy, it is contributed to promote the wind farm system optimization designing technique in the global to reach the international most advanced level, reduce the wind energy generation cost greatly, train teams with innovation ability, that is engaged in designing and running to manage in wind energy generation, wind farm design and manage. All of this is of strategic, economic, social and academic value.

Brief Biography of the Speaker:
Prof. Zhixin Wang was born in May, 1964, and is Deputy Chairman of Department of Electrical Engineering,Shanghai JiaoTong University, Ph.D Advisor also. He expertises in the field of Control of wind turbine, Stablization Control of Wind Farm, and Stablization Control of Offshore Wind Farm.
Prof. Zhixin Wang was authorized B.D, M.D and PhD in 1985, 1988 and 1994 at Zhejiang Univ., China. Since 2005, he sponsored more than 10 important projects, such as Industrialization of MW scale wind turbine and development of 2MW wind turbine, Independent development of 2MW wind power generator, and System connection and control for stable operation of wind farm,etc. He published more than 50 papers and 3 books, such as Manufacture Executive System MES and its application.
