Brief Biography of the Organizer:

Chen-Chien James Hsu was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan. He received the B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1987, and M.S. degree in Control Engineering from National Chiao-Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1989, respectively. Before commencing his Ph.D. study, he worked as a systems engineer in IBM Corp. for three years, responsible for the information systems planning and application development. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the School of Microelectronic Engineering, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia, in 1997. He joined the Department of Electronic Engineering, St. John’s University, Taipei, Taiwan, as an Assistant Professor in 1997, and was appointed Associate Professor in August 2004. Dr. Hsu is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Tamkang University, Taipei, Taiwan. His research interests include digital control systems, neural-fuzzy control systems, genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, and image-based measuring systems. He has authored or coauthored over 50 refereed journal and conference papers in the above areas.
